Dental professionals who are devoted solely to children and teenagers are what you call pediatric dentists. Seattle pediatric dentists offer a calm and comfortable atmosphere for kids and customize their clinics for these youngsters by using everything small – from seating to dental instruments. Pediatric clinics also have waiting rooms where a room full of other kids stay and are taken care of by trained staff, thus ,helping to make these children’s dental experiences a friendly and pleasant one.

A licensed pediatric dentist must undergo several years of additional training, giving them the ability to correctly administer medications to young children and respond to emergencies. Their training also makes them more sensitive to being patient with young children.

Tooth decay, which is very common among children, is not to be taken for granted as it can cause various problems from mere pain to death in the presence of abscesses. Dentist can advise on the use of dental sealants to help protect teeth of these kids who consume a large number of foods and drinks high in sugars and starches. These sealants are intended to coat babies’ teeth so cavities and tooth decay may be avoided. Pediatric dentists may also administer fluoride treatments. A Seattle dentist can determine if children are receiving enough fluoride through toothpastes, mouth washes and local water sources to help teeth stay strong and protect against acid damage. Your dentist can also prescribe fluoride supplements for children or teens who are not getting enough of it. Pediatric dentists also routinely educate their young patients about preventive dental care such as how to floss and brush their teeth to keep them healthy.

By six months of age, babies began to develop their first teeth. To develop life-long healthy habits, children should begin seeing pediatric dentists by the age of 12 months. Parents should also begin helping their children take care of their teeth as soon as they appear. A baby’s first tooth can be cleaned with a soft washcloth. Once several teeth develop, an age-appropriate tooth brush can be used and a pea sized amount of toothpaste. For young children, advice on nutrition, treatment of bottle tooth decay, repairing of chipped teeth and parental advice on using pacifiers and thumb sucking can prevent problems down the line.

By their preteen years, children have both permanent and baby teeth in their mouth making it even more important that they visit a pediatric dentist. Unhealthy snacking and use of tobacco products in preteens and teenagers can lead to unattractive smiles and other problems that require the support of pediatric dentists. Seattle pediatric dentists have the sensitive and caring approach necessary to help adolescents regain their self esteem; making them more confident with their smile through cosmetic techniques such as teeth whitening, removal of wisdom teeth and braces. The specialized training required for pediatric dentistry also gives these dentists the skills to work with special need patients suffering from mental disabilities, or other medical and physical ailments.

Teeth are supposed to last for a lifetime, but there are so many factors that can affect them. Many factors make the teeth wear out over time such as oral injuries, sugar and starch-laden diets and improper brushing and flossing. Look to pediatric dentists in Seattle to ensure the overall well-being of your children’s teeth from birth through their teenage years.

Clandestine marriages!

All right.. so what are they, you may cry?

The response, that I’d give, is that “Clandestine” marriages were wedding ceremonies which most likely had an element of secrecy connected to them.

Quite a number of UK marriages will have been performed in a different part of the country a long way from the home parish of the couple without banns being read nor a licence obtained. The reasons for keeping the marriage secret could be for one of many different reasons. For example there may have been an absence of parental consent and so the marrying couple skipped off to London to tie the knot. This fairly innocent answer can be lined up against a more salacious reason that some clandestine marriages took place and that was where bigamy was involved!

The reality of these nuptials were that fees were often paid to the clergymen for marrying the pair and a blind eye turned to the normal requirements. The promise of enumeration meant that some clerics were willing to carry out this kind of wedding ceremony, even though it was frowned upon by the Church of England and the volume of these unions were really quite extensive, especially in the London area.

If you investigate Clandestine marriages, you will discover that certain churches were important centres for this kind of ”trade”. In the 1740s it seems that more than one half of all London wedding ceremonies were taking place inside the environs of the Fleet Prison. Now it is certain that not all of these brides and grooms married here would have been from the capital city of England.

“Fleet Marriages”, as they were known, were often performed by some fake priests as well as by the disgraced but correctly ordained clergy.

So what period did they take place in? Although there were almost certainly ones previous to this, the earliest Fleet Union on record is from 1613, while the first documented in a Fleet Register took place in 1674. The Marriage Duty Act of 1696 had sought to end the practice elsewhere, but a legal loophole meant that the Fleet Prison was not included.

The Fleet was a gaol and so, as such, professed to be beyond the jurisdiction of the Church of England. The prison warders took a share of the earnings of the cleric performing the marriage, despite the fact that a statute of 1711 imposed fines on them for doing so. What this law did, however, was to shift the clandestine wedding trade away from the prison. It was within the lawless environs of the Fleet that many debtors resided and some of them may well have been disgraced clergymen in want of making some sort of living. Marriage houses, or taverns, now continued the trade lost inside the prison. The local hostelry owners, seeing a market, sought out this type of business by utilizing the services of touts to positively drum up weddings on behalf of their hostels.

If, in your family tree research, you need to seek out these Clandestine marriages on-line then you are in luck because you are able to locate them at: www.ancestry.co.uk. The website’s London Marriage Licences database gives us the chance to search more than 25,000 London weddings over a period of four hundred years.

This collection is not just about “Fleet marriages” but is also for unions made outside church approval – those away from the spouses’ normal parish and often it is possible to find the names of brides and grooms, parents and witnesses in addition to residence, age of spouses and the occupation of the groom. The data source allows us access to marriage licences granted in the dioceses of London by the Bishop’s office from 1521 to 1828, the Dean and Chapter of Westminster’s office from 1599 to 1699 and two offices of the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1543 to 1869 and 1660 to 1679. As such it is an important resource for the family historian.

Outdoors wedding venues are a choice for many couples. If you fall into this category, then you should consider hiring a marquee.

Marquees are available in different shapes, sizes and styles to suit different occasions. They add style and sophistication to a venue while creating a unique atmosphere.

They are available in a variety of styles to embody the specialness of an event, themed or otherwise.

Hiring a wedding marquee has several advantages. The marquee enables you to welcome your guests at a convenient venue without time constraints.

The bride and groom can choose from a wide selection of marquees designed to go with specific themes. There are long ones, square marquee, L-shaped marquee, romantic marquee and classical themed marquee.

Marquees also have many decorative possibilities and can accommodate as many as eight hundred people. If you are planning to hold a wedding outdoors, there are four popular options that you can go for:

Framed Marquee

They are built on a strong metal frame and come complete with hard floor structured walls and windows. This type of marquee is large enough to section off parts using extra walls. Hence, you can have a bar area, dining area and a dance floor as part of your framed marquee.

Their design incorporates air conditioning, heating and lighting facilities.

They are perfect for large formal weddings especially in winter or summer when weather changes unexpectedly.

Framed marquees are quite costly with set up fees but are worth every penny

Traditional Canvas Marquee

A traditional marquee would suit a gardened themed wedding held in late summer, spring and autumn. It allows for guests to be both inside the marquee and out side.

They are more suitable for smaller private garden weddings. You can accessorize them with wrought iron furniture to give a lovely effect.

Traditional marquees are more flexible than framed ones as the sides can be removed in good weather. They can however be troublesome if it starts to get windy or rain starts to fall.

Traditional marquee are usually erected on poles with ropes and tent pegs to keep them upright and secured.

Bedouin or Indian Tents

The difference between Bedouin and the above two is mostly the interior décor. A Bedouin could either be frame or traditional built. It could even be an open pavilion or canopy design. The stylish interior with exotic and luxurious ambience is what sets Bedouins apart.

The walls and ceilings are adorned with various colors and draped with Moroccan or Indian fabrics. They are mostly suited for evening parties or weddings since it can get quite dark inside.

Tepee Style Marquee

These are party tents built on a tripod arrangement of poles with interior guy ropes and exposed beams. They are less formal than framed or traditional marquees and they provide a room for conversation.

Cowboy and Indian style tepees can be ideal for having drinks or guest reception out doors.

For a full outdoor wedding you can hire kata marquees, which can be connected together to form a tent village.

By: Suzanne E Morrison

Are you planning your wedding? If so, you probably already know how big a job wedding planning can be. In this article we will talk about a wedding planning timetable to help ensure that your big day runs according to plan.

Before you read the timetable it is important to understand that everything in this article is an estimate and the exact timetable for you will depend on the type and size of your wedding.

When you begin setting up your timetable it is important that you give yourself a realistic amount of time. One of the great stresses of weddings is trying to accomplish too much over too short of a period of time. Give yourself the time needed and eliminate stress.

One big problem you may face when planning your timetable is the restriction of venue availability. If the venue you want is not available when you want it is wise to postpone the wedding instead of moving it forward to ensure that it is properly planned.

So, what should your timetable look like? The first thing you need to do is plan the venue you wish to use. The venue may require you to book years in advance, so this must be planned before anything else. It is wise to book the venue for your ceremony and reception separately as soon as possible so that you can get the earliest date possible.

All other aspects of the wedding, such as dresses, flowers, and invitations, should be planned over an 18-month period. The main problem with planning the wedding dress so far in advance is the bride may change her shape before the wedding. A good way to get round this is to have a number of fittings for your dress leading up to your big day.

One great way to avoid stress is to plan all the biggest things yourself e.g. the venue, the dress etc and get others to help you with smaller things such as favors or table decorations. This will help save you from many restless nights and allow you to focus on the truly important parts of the wedding.

The most important thing is ensuring that your wedding planning timetable allows you plenty of time to plan everything. You don’t want to be planning the biggest day of your life in a rush. The best wedding planning timetable is to book your venue as soon as possible and then do everything else over the next one to one and a half years.

5 Things You Must Do Before Installing Your Easy Set Pool

By: Clare Swindlehurst

With another long hot summer stretching ahead of us you might have decided to treat your family to a swimming pool. The easy set pools are wonderful because not only are they above ground but they are also quick and easy to install; no digging or tools required. While you are waiting for your pool to be delivered take the following five steps to make sure your family, your pool and your home are all free from danger.

1. Check if you need a permit

The pools are so easy to buy and install that you might not think about permits, but in some towns you can be fined if you don’t have one. Call your council and find out what the rules are in your area. You might need to get a permit and some states like Arizona also require you to have a fence erected around the pool with a gate that locks. Getting hit with a fine will ruin your pool fun.

2. Make sure your yard is level

The easy set pools are strong and sturdy but only if your yard is flat. If your back garden is on a slope then you will need to spend a little time levelling an area for the pool to sit on. The easiest way to do this might be to simply dig a circle slightly larger than the diameter of the pool you’ve ordered and then line it with a tarpaulin.

3. Hire a company to fill the pool

These pools are large enough to hold a family, and they therefore require gallons of water to fill them up. If your kids are keen to get swimming then you might want to call a company to come and fill the pool for you, which will be much quicker than doing so with a hosepipe. If your water comes from a well then you will definitely need to hire a company.

4. Check for sticks and rocks in the pool area

Before you install the pool make sure the area is free from rocks and sticks and other debris. There are two reasons why you need to do this: first you don’t want to damage the lining of the pool and second you don’t want to injure your feet by standing on something that is poking into the bottom of the pool.

5. Don’t forget you need to empty the pool

Unless you are lucky enough to have sunshine all year round you will probably need to drain the pool come the fall. This is easy to do with a hosepipe but you need to think about where the water will drain away to; you don’t want to flood the foundations of your house!

There are times when money is tight. Then there are times when money is needed—FOR A TRUE EMERGENCY—and it’s not there. What do you do?

Introducing the State Emergency Relief (SER) Program

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) of Michigan sponsors the State Emergency Relief (SER) program. It is administered by the Department of Human Services (DHS).

The SER program provides money to provide money to pay for certain types of emergencies:

• Heat & Utilities

• Home Repairs

• Relocation Assistance

• Home Ownership Services

• Burial

Money for this comes from a combination of direct financial assistance and local charitable organizations, like the Salvation Army and other local community action organizations.

If you have a shutoff notice (for gas or electricity) at a time that poses a health-related risk—a true emergency, you can present this. The costs cover the amount needed to reinstate the energy-related service, including connection and hook-up fees when they are not considered to be excessive.

Who qualifies for this assistance?

This program is available to low-income families. Income is determined by the thirty (30) days prior to the request.

Here are the 30-day income limits (as of March 2010):

Group of 1: $1954

Group of 2: $2555

Group of 3: $3156

Group of 4: $3757

Group of 5: $4357

Group of 6: $4960

Countable income includes: Wages, Self-Employment Earnings, Social Security Benefits, Veterans Benefits, Child Support, and Rental Income.

Any personal countable cash assets exceeding fifty dollars ($50) will be used toward the emergency payment.

How much is covered for heat?

Here are the maximum yearly program coverage amounts for Heating Fuel:

• Natural Gas/Wood: $550

• Fuel Oil/Propane/Coal: $850

• All Electric: $1,100

Where do I apply to get this SER assistance?

Applications for SER are available at

• Local DHS offices

• DHS Public Web site- Forms & Applications

• Community-based organizations

Excellent choices for smaller children are the standard kick scooters. If you are looking to introduce your child to scooters kick scooters allow one to be in control of propulsion with a swing of a foot. However, when you get into motorized scooters there is a throttle normally on the right hand side handle. The introduction of a throttle can complicate the riding process, however if you are considering motorized there are many choices. Listed below are a few considerations with some suggested brands at the end of the article.

Things to consider when choosing gas or electric motor scooters in no specific order:

Gas versus Electric Power

Cost: When it comes to price the categories are, in ascending order: non-motorized, electric and then gas being the most expensive. Like the kick scooter the electric scooter offers less complicated parts, like gas there is a motor but without the issue of refueling. Some parents do not want their child to handle or be in close proximity to gas for a multitude of reasons, another reason to consider electric. Gas scooters are also a viable option if you are not concerned with gas, mainly due to the fact that they do not require a recharge.

Speed: Gas offers more velocity and accelerate to speeds upwards of 30 mph with electric producing 12-25 mph. Beginner riders usually focus on smaller units that offer the lowest speed possible, somewhere around 10 mph. Speed is highly dependent on the weight of the rider, terrain, and the size of the battery, if applicable. If you want to purchase a scooter for a teen you may want to consider buying a mid-line gas or electric scooter. Cheap electric scooters (www.cheapelectricscootersonline.com)are readily available on the internet so finding one should not be an issue.

Noise: This is an obvious choice if you prefer a quieter ride, go with electric motor scooters. Even smaller gas powered (50cc) are comparable to lawn equipment decibel levels.

Environmental Concerns: Electric motor scooters do not produce smog emissions like their gas counterparts. If gas still interests you but you’re still concerned about environmental impact, C.A.R.B. motors will produce less exhaust emissions

Convenience: Electric motors range from an hour to roughly 2.5 hrs of battery life and after that need to be charged. The gas scooter needs a certain mixture of oil per gallon but can be used consistently. So the value of convenience is the cost of refilling versus recharging the electric motor.

When considering a purchase the consensus is stay with brands that have a reputable history of manufacturing quality scooters. Below are some brands you have a history of producing solid scooters:

X-Treme Scooters (excellent dollar for dollar value)

Razor

EZIP

GoPed

All four of these companies offer excellent kids electric scooters. The X-treme X-10 (www.cheapelectricscootersonline.com) and the Razor E200 are excellent electric motor scooters for beginners. Either of these cheap electric scooters will are readily available to take as much abuse as your child can dish out.
