I've used a Sedu and had hoped this Chi would be comparable - especially since it (the Chi) came at a great price on Amazon. It is okay, good, but not GREAT like I had expected.
I do appreciate that the iron heats up very fast and I love that the cord is so long and swivels - makes it easy to use anywhere.
I do however, have to run the iron over my hair several times and I've found that my hair is not as smooth - both not an issue with the Sedu.
I will probably replace sooner than anticipated and return to what works best for my hair. This Chi isn't necessarily for me.

I love this flat iron. It heats up in something like 30 seconds and it makes my hair look great. I highly recommend this product if you have thick hair that tends to frizz. This product will take the frizz away and keep it away until you get it wet.

I just bought this iron. I believe it is a Chinese knock-off of the real Farouk. My Farouk recently quit working (after 4 years), and I needed a new one, because it is amazing. This iron from Amazon is much lighter in weight, and several of the inscriptions are questionable. Most importantly, it doesn't work as well as the real Farouk. I'm sorry I bought it, and I'm out $100.
A little tempermental - does not work with converters October 13, 2008
I thought the product was broken when I received it because it would not turn on - after about 10 minutes and constantly resetting the switch, it finally worked. I brought it with me on a business trip to Paris, and was dismayed to read the fine print that it does not work with a converter, so I could not use it. Other than that, it works well.

I absolutely love this flat iron. I have to agree with the majority of the reviewers here that this is the ultimate flat iron. I have not received mine yet, but my friend let me use her "chi" flat iron since I had forgotten mine. I was perfectly happy with my off brand that I had bought at a Sally Hansen store, also a ceramic flat iron. But after I used my friends chi, it looked like I had gone to the hairdresser and had done all the fancy work. I didn't even put any product in my hair!!!
I was not oblivious to the chi, my sister in law has had it for years, but I could not bring myself to spend the money, of course since she lives in another state I never really saw how easy it handled and great it worked!!! I don't understand some of the reviewers who say it doesn't get their hair perfectly straight, my sister in law is Part Puerto Rican and has really curly curly hair and very very thick and this is the absolutely only product that will straighten it and keep it "silky straight" at least it is her words. She has long hair and it only takes her 15 minutes to straighten it, without product as well.
Ok, well sorry for my lengthy rant but I am exstatic and can't wi to get my chi!!!
